The Foster Care Team
Foster care means sharing the care of the child. The foster care team is the child, the child’s family, the foster family and the Department of Communities.
When a child enters care the situation is carefully assessed and a plan is made. This plan gives direction and purpose to the team. It assists in the understanding of the aims, what is expected of the team members, the length of the placement and contact arrangements (family visits).

Fostering is a Team Effort
Always remember that you are sharing the care of the child with the child’s family and agency workers. You are not expected to know all the answers about foster care. That is why on-going support is necessary for all foster families. This support is offered by the Department of Communities, agency workers, other foster families and the Foster Care Association of WA Inc.
