When Yes Means YES: Affirmative consent for kinship carers (National)

Training builds kinship carers’ confidence to discuss healthy boundaries and affirmative consent with young people

When yes means YES: Affirmative consent for kinship carers is an on demand course designed to build carers’ skills and confidence to have developmentally appropriate conversations with young people aged 12 to 14 about non sexual consent and affirmative sexual consent.

Developed collaboratively with carers, young people, the Australian Childhood Foundation, the Centre for Excellence in Therapeutic Care and OzChild, and supported by the Victorian Government Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, this course provides practical guidance grounded in trauma responsive and relational practice.

Each module includes optional activities for carers to complete with the young person in their care. Activities include videos, quizzes and discussion scenarios, with content alerts to support safe and thoughtful selection based on the young person’s age, stage and needs.

Learning from Australian Childhood Foundation.
