Kylie Horner Senior Social Worker Advocacy & Support

Kylie holds Bachelor of Social Work, completed in 2008 and had begun her career in the Department of Communities since January 2006. During almost 19 years of working with families, Kylie has held a variety of roles within and outside the department, however her main passion and role has been dedicated to the support of Foster Carers and their families. Kylie also has experience in Child Witness Support for the Department of Justice, frontline Child Protection, Fostering and Adoption roles, Management and Practice Development roles, both locally and in the UK.

Kylie has joined the Foster Carers Association of WA as a Senior Social Worker, Advocacy and Support Officer in November 2024, which has been a goal for many years. Kylie hopes to be able to offer quality and informative advocacy and support to carers as she develops her practice from a different perspective to statutory Child Protection work.

Kylie has a busy but enjoyable family life with many sporting and recreational commitments, and equally encourages the importance of looking after yourself, being that “Self-care is giving the best of you, instead of what is left of you
